Boscombe is located just under two miles from Bournemouth Town Centre. Home to miles of sandy beaches, the popular surf reef and free entry onto the pier, it has something for everyone. Boscombe is the perfect place to move whether you are living alone, with your partner or with a family. It offers plenty of things to do and boasts a busy high street and round the clock entertainment.

Who lives in Boscombe?

Boscombe is a popular area for families and couples due to its prime location near the beach and also due to its great selection of close by primary and secondary schools. Boscombe is also home to the famous 02 academy, which is an outstanding Grade II listed music venue steeped in musical heritage with magnificent period features and state of the art facilities, many live music performances and tribute nights are held at this venue making for a great evening out.

Properties to buy and rent in Boscombe

There are many different properties to choose from in Boscombe whether you are looking to rent or buy. Nearer to the beach in Boscombe Spa, there are plenty of contemporary and modern blocks which boast balconies and sea views however you also have many apartment blocks scattered with heaps of history and character, for example you have the iconic blocks of apartments “Burlington Mansions” a former Victorian hotel and “San Remo Towers” A Grade II Listed Building which were erected in the 1930s. Moving further towards Boscombe Town Centre, there is a good mixture of detached and semi- detached properties, and in recent years there has been a vast increase of brand new contemporary blocks of apartments being erected. There is something for everyone.

Parks and green spaces

You simply cannot visit boscombe without taking a trip to Boscombe Chine Gardens. These gardens offer a lovely mix of scenery and activities with formal flower beds, large grassy areas, mini golf and a water-themed playground. Perfect for all the family. For those with green fingers - A variety of trees grow on the banks of the chine and the gardens provide habitats for a range of wildlife.  There is a wildlife quiz trail along the pathway all about the plants and animals found in the gardens. There is also a café which offers a range of cakes, sandwiches and beverages open daily between 9am- 6pm. During the summer months the land train also stops off in this location.

Swimming, fitness and sports

Boscombe is situated 2.5 miles away from BH live active in Queens Park, which makes up a chain of many BH live gyms and pools across Bournemouth. Although Queens Park BH live does not offer swimming facilities, it has an extensive programme of classes, and a modern and contemporary gym studio. A little further down the road at Stokewood Leisure Centre which is also part of the BH live chain, they have a good sized swimming pool which is open between 6am – 10pm subject to classes and competitions.

Doctors and Dentists in Boscombe

Boscombe benefits from a good amount of Medical centres and dental surgeries. Shelley manor medical Centre is situated on Shelley Road and Boscombe Manor medical Centre is situated on Florence Road. There are also plenty of dental surgeries, Boscombe gardens dental practice and Wooton Lodge dental practice are situated on Christchurch Road and 740 Dental is situated also on Christchurch Road, these are just a few on the long list.

Shopping in Boscombe

Boscombe is home to the Sovereign Shopping Centre; a modern mall featuring high-street fashion branches, budget shops and health and beauty outlets. Lidl, Poundland, Wilkinson’s, JD Sport, Peacocks, The Fragrance Shop, Angels Nails, Warren James and Bright House are just a small selection of what is on offer. There is also a busy high street with big names such as Primark, Sainsbury’s and a good array of market stalls.

Hair and beauty

Whether you need a quick trim, a full head of highlights or a manicure and pedicure; Boscombe is the place to go. There are over 15 + hair salons and nail parlors in Boscombe situated all over, with the majority being situated on Christchurch Road.

Eating out in Boscombe

There is way too much choice when it comes to eating out in Boscombe. If you’re looking for a meal with a view, there are many restaurants/cafes situated on the beach front. Urban reef has a great reputation and offers an extensive menu including burgers, seafood and light bites; Boscombe pier is also home to Harvester, Reef encounter and many more; you are bound to find something you like! If you are looking to eat further into town, Koh Thai is situated on Christchurch road along with many more takeaways and restaurants including Fish & Chips, McDonalds, Jammin Jerk hut... The list is endless!

Boscombe benefits from fantastic bus links running into the town Centre, the rail station, Southbourne and Christchurch every 10-15 minutes. These services are operated by Yellow Buses and More Buses.
